Each piece of this gorgoise Honey Jar is handmade. The glaze has browns and tans and knobbed handle top. It goes well in many kitchen color schemes. The Honey Jars are approximately 5 inches in height and 4 1/2 inches in diameter, at the widest point. They hold about 16 ounces of honey. As with all handcrafted, wheel thrown pottery, the color and size will vary with each piece...making each piece unique! Each piece is lead-free and microwave/dishwasher/food safe. ARTIST/PIECES: Barry has been making pots at his shop in North Carolina since 1973. He digs and enhances a local clay and also uses other area materials in his glazes and slips. For example granite tailings from drilling my well gives a natural dark green glaze. North Carolina red clay produces a caramel color. Local quarry roadstone gives the French custard glaze. All pots are salt fired to cone 10 which gives a hard durable finish. Salt tends to reveal clay at its rawest and finest.
